Logging In and Getting Started with Catalyst

Welcome to Catalyst by EBM. Whether you're accessing the website or using Excel-based cubes, this guide will walk you through the basics to get up and running.

Step 1: Your Account

Before logging in, a Catalyst administrator (either from your team or ours) will add you as a user. Your username is typically your email address. For more information on adding and managing users see here.

Step 2: Accepting Your Microsoft Invitation

Catalyst is hosted in Microsoft Azure and uses Microsoft 365 (MS365) for authentication. When you're added as a user, you'll be invited to join EBM’s Microsoft tenant.

You won’t need to search for a separate invite email—this step happens during your first login.

First-Time Login:

  1. Go to your Catalyst site using the URL provided by your admin.

  2. When prompted, sign in with your MS365 account.

  3. Accept the invitation and follow any instructions on screen.

If login doesn’t work the first time, it usually means the Microsoft invitation wasn’t accepted correctly. Reach out to EBM Support and we’ll resend it.

Note: If your Catalyst instance hasn’t migrated to Azure yet, some steps may differ slightly. Contact your EBM rep for help if things don’t match what’s shown here.

Step 3: Logging In

Once you’ve accepted the invite:

  1. Go to your Catalyst site URL.

  2. Log in with your MS365 credentials.

  3. You’ll land on your Catalyst homepage.

This same login process also applies when you're using Excel-based cube files connected to Catalyst. If you're prompted repeatedly to log in, it may be due to your browser’s cached credentials. Try clearing your cache by clicking the Catalyst logo in the top left, or open the file in an incognito window.

Step 4: Start Exploring

Here’s a quick overview of what you’ll see once you’re in:

  • Dashboard: A snapshot of your key reports and links.

  • Reports: Access your financial and operational data.

  • Planning: Work with budgets, forecasts, and scenario planning.

  • Visualizations: Build and explore BI dashboards.

  • Admin: Manage users, permissions, and hierarchies.
