Welcome to Catalyst by EBM. This guide walks you through the essential steps to access your Catalyst website, understand the login process, and start exploring the platform's capabilities.
What You'll Need
Before you can log in to Catalyst, a few prerequisites need to be in place. Here's a quick overview of what happens behind the scenes:
User Account
An administrator adds you as a user in Catalyst using your email address.
Microsoft 365
Catalyst uses MS365 for authentication — you'll sign in with your work account.
Site URL
Your Catalyst website URL, provided by your administrator or EBM team.
Step 1: Your User Account
Before you can log in, a Catalyst administrator (either from your organization or EBM) will add you as a user. Your username is typically your email address.

Step 2: Microsoft Invitation
Catalyst is hosted in Microsoft Azure and uses Microsoft 365 (MS365) for authentication. When you're added as a user, you'll be invited to join EBM's Microsoft tenant.
💡 How the invitation works. In most cases, the Microsoft invitation is accepted automatically during your first login attempt — there's no separate email to look for. Simply navigate to your Catalyst URL and sign in with your MS365 credentials. The invitation process happens seamlessly in the background.
Occasionally, you may receive a formal invitation email from Microsoft. If you do, accept it before attempting to log in.
⚠️ Invitation expiration. Microsoft invitations expire after 3 months if not accepted. If you haven't logged in within that time and encounter issues accessing Catalyst, contact EBM Support to have the invitation resent.
Step 3: Logging In
Once your account is set up, accessing Catalyst is straightforward:
Navigate to Your Catalyst URL
Open your browser and go to the Catalyst site URL provided by your administrator.
Sign In with Microsoft 365
Enter your MS365 work credentials when prompted. If this is your first login, the Microsoft invitation will be accepted automatically.
Explore Your Homepage
Once authenticated, you'll land on your Catalyst homepage with access to dashboards, reports, and planning tools.
🔧 Troubleshooting repeated login prompts. If you're being asked to log in repeatedly, it's often due to cached credentials in your browser. Try clearing your cache by clicking the Catalyst logo in the top-left corner, or open the site in an incognito/private browsing window.
Note: Some Catalyst instances may have a slightly different login process. If the steps above don't match your experience, contact your EBM representative for guidance specific to your environment.
Using Catalyst Data in Excel
If you plan to work with Catalyst data in Excel — such as opening cube files, building pivot tables, or connecting to live data — you'll need to install the EBM Excel Add-In.
💡 One more Excel step: after installing the add-in, most users also need to set up Trusted Locations so Excel allows cube files to connect — including SharePoint and OneDrive folders. See Setting Up Trusted Locations for EBM Excel Files.
