🔔 Update – Issue Resolved (January 21, 2026)
The issue impacting system-generated emails has been resolved. The planned rollback has been completed successfully, and automated email notifications are now sending as expected. No customer action is required.
Overview
We recently identified an issue where system-generated emails were not being delivered as expected. This was caused by a defect introduced in a Microsoft SQL Server 2022 cumulative update that affected Database Mail functionality. The issue was confirmed after broader customer feedback following the update, and Microsoft acknowledged it as a known issue.
What Happened
During our standard Microsoft patching window, a SQL Server 2022 update introduced a known issue that prevented Database Mail from functioning correctly. As a result, applications relying on SQL Server to send automated emails were unable to do so.
This behavior was not identified prior to release and was later documented by Microsoft after reports from customers.
What Was Impacted
While the issue was present, some system-generated emails may not have been delivered, including:
Hierarchy update notifications
User welcome emails
Cube build completion or failure alerts
File upload confirmations or error messages
Other automated platform notifications
Application workflows, data processing, and integrations continued to run as expected. The impact was limited to outbound email notifications.
Resolution
Following coordination with Microsoft and validation in our environments, we completed the planned rollback during the scheduled maintenance window. Email delivery has been restored and is functioning normally.
We’ll continue to monitor Microsoft guidance related to KB5074819 – Cumulative Update 23 for SQL Server 2022 and review our patching and release processes to identify opportunities to better protect our platform and clients from similar update-related issues in the future.
